Here are a few samples of the diverse ways members of the Cincinnati Friends Meeting use their creative gifts.

Visual Arts

Franchot Ballinger is a musician, writer, and woodcarver who creates hiking staffs, both decorative and useful. His poems have appeared in many poetry journals and online, and he is the author of Living Sideways: Tricksters in American Indian Oral Traditions, published by the University of Oklahoma Press. He also performs on Native American flutes and has recorded a CD, Quiet Heart.

Joan Effertz is a local artist with several public exhibitions of her work. The images below are from a show of her botanical monotypes at the Civic Garden Centre, which was up through August, 2006. They will also appear in the October volume of "The Artist Magazine." She was the featured cover artist for the June 2006 issue of "Natural Living Healthy Living." Collin and Audrey Taylor are a married team of potters who together established Union's Bloom Pottery in Kentucky. They have been making and selling work throughout the Midwest for the last six years.
